Students will create a ceramic bobblehead, a diorama for the ceramic creature to live in, food for the creature to eat, a stop-motion video of the creature in its home, and a still-life drawing of their creature. Students will be manipulating different materials in each of the  projects, such as clay, underglaze, drawing materials, foam, found objects, as well as digital tools to create video

Description:

This is a photo from a BFA exhibition featuring Marie Grimm where she was using fabrics from her grandmother and mother's bed sheets to connect with history and emotion, and enhancing the florals and patterns to push the image back and forth between the surface and space

Rationale:

In this exhibition, I learned unique ways to connect to connect different mediums of art. Marie had paintings and screen printing and she made them all cohesive by incorporating all the different floral patterns from the fabrics whether it was using the actual fabric or imitating it with paint or ink

The photo on the left is a selfie of me at the opening of a BFA art show featuring Madison Virden. Her art was about standing out in a "swarm" where she used imagery of different insects that gather around in "swarms" like bees.

Rationale:

In this exhibition, I learned a fun way to incorporate nature and social issues. She used the idea of standing out in a crowd but did it in a way that included an interest in insects and it a perfect sense.
